May 9                      Visit of the women-s delegation in the house of Sisters of Boromey
                             in Prague-5, ěepy (= House of Social Work for old people and cor-
                             rectional institutions for women with lighter sentences. These sen-
                             tenced women take care for these old and sick people ľ what is
                             the unique project within the Czech Rep.)

June 5-7                  Sister Eliška Langerfeld (the hospital pastor at Niesky, Germany)
                             realized a work visit to Prague

June 23                   Steering committee of ECC has established an ECC Youth Com-
                             mittee

July 2                      Ecumenical service in Prague, held in St. Vitus Cathedral within the
                             project Prague 2000 ľ European Town of Culture, attended by re-
                             presentatives of the partnership cities Bologna, Brussels, Helsinki,
                             Krakow ľ a sermon was preached by brother Pavel Smetana, Pre-
                             sident of ECC

July 5                      National pilgrimage to Velehrad ľ Commemoration of Cyril and
                             Metodýj, the greeting was presented by brother Pavel Smetana on
                             behalf of ECC

July 6                      Commemoration of Master Jan Hus (burn to death at Constance,
                             1415) at more places in the Czech Rep., the service was held in
                             Bethlehem chapel in Prague ľ the preaching was served by a CČSH
                             bishop, Jana Őilerová

July 7                      Proclamation of the Old-Catholic church in the Czech Rep. to bles-
                             sing of Pope Pius IX

July 16-23               Ecumenical meeting with Bible and art at Bechyný town

July 30-August 3     Special committee of the World Council of Churches (further WCC)
                             for questions, related to presence of Orthodox churches in WCC,
                             met in VilÚmov near Olomouc, and visited Prague, too.

August 14-17          Delegation of the youth from the Presbyterian Church, USA (Cali-
                             fornia State) visited ECC (within their trip to Rumania, where mem-
                             bers of the delegation were helping with cleaning the church buil-
                             dings)

August 31 ľ September 2 - European seminary, held in Prague-Dejvice, organized by
                             the Union of Catholic women

September 1-7        Christian churches at Pilsen held an action "Seven good news"

September 8           Meeting of Slovak and Czech Ecumenical Council at St. Jura near
                             Bratislava

September 12         Meeting of the Czech ecumene with bishop Renz at Evangelical
                             Theological Faculty (ETF) in Prague, President of WCC

September 24         Ecumenical Sunday (celebration of joint services at more places in
                             the Czech Rep.)

September 25-27     International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Meetings, held
                             in Prague ľ Churches of ECC and Czech Bishop Conference (CBC)
                             issued a joint proclamation to the Meetings

October 7                Meeting of the Slavkov initiative for reconciliation at Slavkov near
                             Brno

October 10-17         Small constructional modifications and repairs in the ECC building
                             at Donská street in Prague

October 13              Decorating the workers of various churches for their 10-year activi-
                             ty in the spiritual ministry in the prison. The decorations were han-
                             ded over by the Director of the Prison Service of the Czech Rep.,
                             Kamila Meclová

October 15-18         Meeting Forum 2000 in Prague (also with attendance of represen-
                             tatives of the churches)

November 14-16     Preparation for Meeting of the Ecumenical Councils of Europe,
                             which was to meet in April 2001 in Prague

November 17          The 1st synod of churches of the Leuenberg fellowship in Prague

November 17          Issuance of a document of churches to the social questions Peace
                             and goodness

November 24-26     Meeting of women within the project EUNIKA XVI in Prague (the
                             guests were women from Silesia and Slovakia, the theme was Vo-
                             luntary work)

November 30          Training of the church workers for the case of crisis situations wi-
                             thin the cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Rep.

December 3            Ecumenical service at St. Vav°inec on the Pet°ín hill in Prague (TV
                             live transmission, preaching served by evangelical pastor, brother
                             Pavel Klinecký)

December 7            Resignation of brother Pavel Smetana for President of ECC, work
                             of President was temporarily performed by the ECC Vice-presi-
                             dent, brother Pavel Černý, head of Council of the Brothers- Church,
                             till election of the new ECC President, brother Vladislav Volný in
                             January 2001

December 14-15     Work meeting of representatives of the EKD Berlin, ECC and Dia-
                             conia of Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren concerning the ex-
                             change family recreation in 2001. The meeting was held in Prague.

December 26   Radio Free Europe was broadcasting a discussion on the inter-
                churches cooperation, situation in the Czech ecumenical field, and
                a forecast for the ecumene to the new millenium (discussions were
                attended by brothers Smetana, Radkovský, Vaníček and sister
                Mandysová).
